Pathways - Part 3

Title: Pathways

Pairing/Characters: Tess Mercer/Alice, Lois Lane

Fandom: Smallville/The Playboy Club

Rating: PG

Summary: As the Man of Steel’s destiny is finally fulfilled, some end up still looking for a greater calling of their own. Like Lois Lane, whose life takes a sudden change when she gets a visit from a special someone who grants her superpowers. Or Tess Mercer, who unexpectedly gets stuck in 1960s Chicago of another universe where now she has to try and find a new life in this feminine repressed era while still trying to find her way back.

A/N: This idea originally came from my mourning of the series The Playboy Club as the series was cancelled right before Cassidy Freeman’s character was going to start a relationship with Alice. However since we don’t know too much about Cassidy’s TPC character Francis, I figure to swap her with Cassidy’s other character, Tess from Smallville, to take Francis’s place in the series.

A/N2: Story takes place after the series Smallville has ended. If you’re expecting a story about Superman, Wonder Woman or Batman, this is not your story. They’ll see plenty of action, but it mostly focuses on the four main ladies, lesser exposed characters and some new ones.

A/N3: It will be a while before Lois gets her powers and Tess gets stuck in 1960s Chicago. However once that happens the ball will really begin to start rolling.

A/N4: It will be a while before Lois gets her powers and Tess gets stuck in 1960s Chicago. However once that happens the ball will really begin to start rolling.

It was pretty good. I thought it was actually better than Avengers. They started from the beginning and the film did an excellent job in making it feel like you're not rehashing old territory. The direction is a bit more serious, but still pulled off humour well and had overall great qualities.

Best new thing I really liked was the casting. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were wonderful and easily beat Tobey and Kirsten by miles. Though considering the last Spidey film had me liking James Franco and Thomas Haden Church more than those two, that's not really saying much.

Here's something you never saw in the Raimi films, a love interest that's not dumb and useless. Not only is Gwen Stacy never once taken hostage throughout the movie, but she actually tries to help out our hero as much as she can. Raimi's Mary Jane can really take notes here Miss I can't even eat lunch in the cafeteria without needing Peter to save me. At the end Gwen becomes the type of female love interest I can really root for and want to see back as oppose to an annoying damsel.

One new thing I was worried about in this movie was bringing in the web shooters. This movie's explanation for it is that Oscorp has a special room where they're breeding hundreds of genetically engineered spiders and among their purpose is to make their webbing into a product. The web shooters themselves was very rushed in the making. Peter seems to have unlimited ammo too. The filmmakers must've realized it's a silly idea and purposely flew by it as quickly as possible. So I still can't decide what I feel about them.

Outside that, great film. It had me more emotionally invested than any of the previous Spider-man films. Also kind of mirrors the X-men franchise. Didn't really care for the previous movies of the franchise. Thought both Spider-man 2 and Wolverine 2: United were overrated drivel since they got the most praise. Thought the most recent reboots, this and X-men: First Film, were easily the best in the franchise and the audience I watched with clapped at the end of both movies.

I became too invested in it that something was being brought up that has me worried. Which is if this new series follows the comics, Gwen Stacy is going to get killed! You know that bridge scene in the first movie where Green Goblin gives Spidey a choice? In the comics that was Gwen in Mary Jane's place and Spidey was only able to save the children.  The filmmakers seem not to want to tread familiar territory, so hopefully they don't do this cause I really like Emma's Gwen Stacy. If they want to follow the comics, then instead of killing her, I prefer the filmmakers pull a 180 and go the Ultimate Spider-man route of making Gwen Stacy Carnage. I quite frankly think Emma could make an excellent Carnage.

Also I think alot of people would pay to see Emma Stone single handily beating up Spider-man and Venom. She already has the brains and attitude to do so. I now end this with music from my first introduction to Carnage, the Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety video games. Could be her Carnage theme song.

TV year in review - 2011 edition

2011 TV year in review

I’ve never done this before, but I figure since I’ve seen so much films and TV series, why not finally do some reviews myself? And since most shows are finishing their season runs, if they haven’t already, what better to review than the year of TV series?

Title: Time After Time

Pairing: Numerous A.J. Cook and Katheryn Winnick characters (central) with other pairings along the way

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the several dozen franchises and characters that I’ll be using throughout this story.

Summary: A love story spanning two decades and told through multiple parallel universes, and seen through the eyes of Rachel McAdams.

A/N: Well it looks like my love for Andrea Joy Cook and Katheryn Winnick has finally hit its peak, and this is the result.

A/N 2: Due to the fact this is a crossover, I’m going to have to alter some timelines and locations in order to make this work.

Story Arc Summary:

Title: 1998 – 2000: The People We Become

Fandom: Mean Girls/Student Bodies and Higher Ground

Pairing: Holly Benson/Shelby Merrick

Rating: G

Summary: Regina George moves out of Illinois and starts a new life in Canada. As she experiences her final high school years, Regina sees life both from the perspective of the quirkiness of Edison High to the troubled Mt. Horizon High School, located across the border in the Ontario wilderness.

A/N: For this story, let’s assume the events of Mean Girls, Higher Ground and season 2 of Student Bodies all took place around 1998 despite being released later. Also since Higher Ground was obviously filmed in British Columbia, we’re going to have to pretend Ontario has rocky mountains because Higher Ground without mountains wouldn’t even be called Higher Ground. I’m also pretty certain Mean Girls took place in the 11th grade, but let’s pretend it was the 10th.

A/N2: Both of these Canadian series carries a lot of sentimental value to me, and both ended unresolved. So now I feel like I have a lot of weight on my shoulders because I feel obliged to give both of these series a proper ending. Hope I do them justice. Just for anyone who’s unfamiliar with these two shows, Katheryn Winnick is Holly Benson and A.J. Cook is Shelby Merrick. Anyone curious to check out the series, both are up on Youtube. Here are the channels for Higher Ground and Student Bodies. Katheryn is in episodes 2.49, 3.51, 3.53, 3.54 and 3.59 while A.J. is in the entire series of Higher Ground. If I had to recommend one, then by all means watch Higher Ground.

A/N3: Special thanks to Queen of Shadows over at fanfiction.net for being an awesome beta.
